Carl DiFranco had been working his way through the grief of losing his wife 6 months before that infamous day of Sept. 11 2001. Her death was sudden, and unexpected, and of course Carl was heartbroken. The birth of his niece gave him solace, and he was a doting uncle to her. Carl was a strong and confident man, good traits for anyone, but a boon for his position as Assistant Manager at Marsh and McLennan whom he had joined in January of 2001. He was 27 when he went to work on Sept. 11/2001, never to come home. So very young to have suffered so much sorrow from losing his beloved wife. So very young to die for any reason, let alone in a terrorist attack that horrified the world. Carl is with his wife now, and his niece has two angels looking out for her. Carl would like that.
